The Victims of the Vanishing

Description

This is how Victims of the Vanishing worked out. I ended up using a coffin box upon which I added the coral, fossilized clam shells from my back yard, the sea star, and the personified face (of the coral). I hand painted the box with a q-tip, the coral, shells and face with nail polish. The star fish I coated with a light gold glitter coat (nail polish). Inside the coffin is a white starfish. The mermaid represents Thalassa, the ancient Greek goddess who embodied the open sea and who, with Okeanos as father, is the mother of all ocean life. She is checking in the coral, star fish -- both of which are horridly impacted by modern pollution. (Note:  the belt, coral, starfish, coffin box, face, star on the face, and shells are all upcycled materials). his entry was made for #CRArtisanCrafts's challenge + November's Artisan Craft Monthly ChallengeThe spooky crafts are set to continue here at deviantART, as for this month's challenge you guys have voted for Supernatural to be our theme!
