Artist's Comments

This is from a local spa. It is supposed to actually be haunted, and, as a ghost hunter, I am always interested in haunted lore. I took a photo of this statue, which is of a greyhound. The stories to it are varied. One says that the statue originally faced the other way and that it changed on its own, one says that the statue moves when no one is around (i.e., it gets up and moves), one says that a person was bitten by it, one says that people, esp. children, are attracted to it, and the final one says that anyone who pets it will be haunted. SO, though the original statue looks nothing like this, I wanted to create an image from the POV of a ghost investigator. I postulated that I, and my team, would be here at night and it would be dark (this was a challenge as I took the picture at 2 pm in the afternoon). I'd have a flashlight, or a camera flash, that would illuminate the area. Since ghosts show up as mists, I went with a misty interpretation of this image. The statue's eye was not showing up well, and the face on this thing is just a wee bit creepy so I wanted to bring that out more. I used a lighting filter ( the "flashlight") to try and do so. I transformed the haunted statue (which I did pet, BTW, just in case) into a ghostly hound. ;) Thoughts?

Where would you put it all anyway?

Love the dog.. He looks haunted and celtic! He would be nice to sit out front and keep some folks away!

Thank you. I'm new to Photoshop, but I did a series of filters (plastic wrap, then neon lighting, then liquify). I tried to sharpen the image, then make it grainy (as in 35 mm photography) then did the darkness/flashlight.

Thank you for the comments!
